TREE PLANTING AND SPRING CLEAN-UP DAY – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
The Spring Clean-up Day led by our Facilities Team will be Saturday, April 25, from 8 am – noon(ish). With assistance of the Creation Care Team, we will be planting 10 trees. We have lost many trees due to storms, stress, and ash borers over the years. We invite and encourage families to "sponsor" a tree by actually planting it, watering it over the first summer, or making a special contribution to NUMC designated for "Trees" to offset the approximate $300 cost per tree (make your check payable to NUMC and note “trees” in the memo). We will celebrate commitments at our Earth Day worship service on April 19. In case of bad weather on April 25, May 2 is our backup date.
We will also need volunteers for our regular spring church grounds cleanup on April 25. Bring appropriate outdoor work clothes and gear; rakes, shovels, gloves, etc. There will be jobs for all abilities! No RSVP needed, just show up. Questions? Contact Bruce Paulson at 507-301-5428.
Camp Minnesota offers cutting edge summer camp experiences for all ages and interests, high quality space for retreats, meetings and conferences, delicious meal service, and warm hospitality. Contact Pastor Donna for information about camperships.

THURSDAY, APRIL 23
Called as Community in Fractured Times
6:30pm music/snacks; program 6:45-8:00pm
Recent events in our community have revealed fractures in our lives together and also demonstrated the depth and breadth of our care for our neighbors. Each of us lives from a theology of what we value and believe. What can stories from resistance movements in this country and in South Africa teach us about the calls to continued courage and healing in this present moment? Prompted by questions from Northfield community members, Alan Storey will engage with us in conversation about how we might live into our commitments to community wholeness.
Location: St. John’s Hall, 500 Third Street West, Northfield
FRIDAY NIGHT & SATURDAY APRIL 24-25
Manna & Mercy Retreat
Alan Storey will break open Daniel Erlander's Manna & Mercy book — a vibrant, in-depth exploration of the Bible that emphasizes God's plan to use us as Partner People to mend the entire universe. Using Dan’s book, Alan has developed a weekend retreat to take a fresh look at scripture through the interpretive lens of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection and God’s overall call for each one of us to partner with God in mending this fractured world. The hope is that after we have done so, our interpretations and use of the scriptures will be truly liberating and life-enabling for all of creation.
The sliding scale registration fee includes Friday dinner at 5:15pm, lunch on Saturday, and a free copy of Manna and Mercy.
Location: St. John’s Hall, 500 Third Street West, Northfield
