Northfield UMC is Seeking a Director of Family Ministries

One of Northfield UMC's priorities over the past several years (and especially since early-2024) has been to strengthen and grow our ministries with children, youth, and families. As we've revisited our staffing needs and ministry priorities, we've recognized the importance of taking a more intentional approach to leadership and staffing in this area. We believe now is the time to move forward.

We're bringing leadership for children and youth ministries together in a new Director of Family Ministries position, building on the work already underway and creating new possibilities for the future.

We are grateful for a generous legacy gift from Anne Mayer, whose generosity is helping make this possible. Her gift provides an opportunity to strengthen these ministries and invest in the future of our congregation.

The new Director of Family Ministries will serve approximately 30 hours per week, providing leadership for children and youth ministries and helping cultivate relationships with families and the wider community. We also envision continuing to involve college student interns as part of our family ministries team.

You can click on the job description below. Please share this opportunity with anyone you believe might be interested or would be a good fit.

For more information, please contact Kevin Merkle, SPR Chair, or Pastor Donna Dempewolf.

Hope for Creation
Wednesdays, October 21–November 11 | 6:00 p.m.

Join the Creation Care Team for four Wednesday evening gatherings to explore how our congregation can deepen its commitment to caring for creation. Using the Hope for Creation curriculum, we'll reflect, share ideas, and identify opportunities for action in our church and community. All are welcome, whether you've participated before or are joining for the first time!

An Invitation to an October Journey

Bishop Lanette asks, "How then shall we live?" On the Way to Election Day she encourages us to walk together through Connexion, Politix, Reflexion, and Praxis. Each word carries an X, an echo of the Chi (Χ) that begins Χριστoς (Christos), the Anointed One. It is a reminder that whatever else we are called in this season, we belong first to Christ.
